Indy Art & Soul: Meet Artist Matthew Cooper
The Art & Soul festival continues, and the work of Artist Matthew Cooper speaks to the beauty of the African-American people and culture. He recently joined Lindsey Lord & the Arts Council of Indianapolis for a look at his artwork.
Matthew Cooper is an emerging visual artist from Indianapolis, Indiana. His paintings often feature a variety of media including acrylic paint, oil paint, oil stick and found objects. His often narrative work speaks to the beauty of the African and African-American people and culture through a dreamlike reality using the human anatomy to recreate a story telling narrative of courageous and resilient history.

Matthew created the backdrop for this year’s performances. Matthew also created two original works that viewers can see through the large exterior windows of Gallery 924 at the Arts Council.
