1 killed in McCordsville crash

MCCORDSVILLE, Ind. (WISH) – Emergency personnel responded to a fatal crash in McCordsville Tuesday night.

Police at the scene say one person was killed and two others were taken to the hospital.

The crash happened around 8:30 p.m. at 600 W and 1000 N. Hancock County Sheriff’s Department said six vehicles were involved in the crash.

A pickup truck was traveling north on County Road 600 West, a passenger car was also traveling north behind the truck. Four vehicles were traveling south on County Road 600 West.

According to police, the truck was traveling at a high rate of speed when she crossed the center line, hitting three of the cars traveling southbound. The fourth vehicle struck debris from the crash.

Investigators say Evelyn Ison, the driver pickup truck was the only person in the vehicle. Ison was pronounced dead at the scene. She was not wearing a seat belt.

Two drivers from the southbound cars were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injures.

Investigators haven’t said what caused the crash. The Fatal Alcohol Crash Team was called to investigate.
