8 hurt in State Road 37 crash near Bloomington

MONROE COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — State police say eight people are hurt after a crash on State Road 37 north of Bloomington on Friday afternoon.

It happened around 3 p.m. on northbound State Road 37 at Sample Road.

A Monroe County Sheriff’s Office official said a semi hauling a flatbed trailer rear-ended an SUV as both vehicles were heading north.

The semi driver then swerved into five more vehicles.

Eight people are injured and in unknown condition. At least two were transported to the hospital.

The semi driver was taken to the hospital for a voluntary blood draw.

The northbound and southbound lanes were closed for several hours as emergency crews responded.
