Teachers run ‘decorate-it-yourself’ cupcake business at Greenwood Park Mall
GREENWOOD, Ind. (WISH) — For a few months, a new family-owned business has been turning heads inside Greenwood Park Mall.
At Cake Bake Kreations, customers can decorate their own edible artwork. The business brings the sweets and wants customers to come with creativity to enjoy the experience.
On weekdays, the business doesn’t open until 4:30 p.m. because the owners are teachers in the Beech Grove school district. Shirley Folks and Sharnita Thomas are mother and daughter, but, on Monday, they told News 8 that it’s the second daughter and decorator, Kristian, who is the reason why the business launched in the first place.
The trio got its business off the ground during the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic after finding an opportunity and just the right space at Greenwood Park Mall. Since then, the business has attracted families with kids.
“We knew the community needed some fun and laughter in their lives post-COVID, so we felt this would be the perfect time to get a new location and build our brand,” Folks said.
When asked what their most popular flavored cupcake is, the woman agreed it’s something they call “Fun-fetti.”
