Body found in field on northwest side identified

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A body has been found in a business area on the city’s northwest side, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said. 

Police were called about 4:45 p.m. Thursday to the 5300 block of Pike Plaza Road, south of the Interstate 65 interchange with Lafayette Road. 

According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, the body has been identified as that of 33-year-old Matthew Venis.

Deputies say that on March 19 and 20 two ponds in Boone County were searched after receiving a tip about a possible missing person in the area.

Venis had been missing since Nov. 4, 2018.

The case remains under investigation.
