Man seriously injured in hit-and-run on west side

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A man was seriously injured in a hit-and-run on the city’s west side just before midnight Sunday.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, a man, who was working security, was attempting to block off traffic so a broken water main on Morris Street near High School Road could be repaired.

Police said the man was attempting to get a vehicle in the area to slow down when he was struck. After hitting the man, the vehicle fled the area.

A description of the vehicle has not been released.
