IDDC awards destination grants

Greensburg will use its grant to build Pirate Park Community Green Space and Soccer Facility.

INDIANAPOLIS (Inside INdiana Business) — The Indiana Destination Development Corporation has awarded nearly $400,000 in Destination Development Grants. Secretary and Chief Executive Officer Elaine Bedel says the funding is part of an effort to invest in amenities, attractions and facilities that “enhance the experience where people want to live, work, play, study and stay.”

The recipients include the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum and the city of Greensburg.

“Both of these grant awardees offer unique attractions and build on Indiana’s quality of life,” said Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch. “The Destination Development Grants will not only boost Auburn and Greensburg, but also serve as new reasons to bring people to their regions.”

The Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum received nearly $250,000 to finish the new E.L. Cord Gallery of Entrepreneurship. The permanent exhibit highlights the life and business of E.L. Cord and will feature artifacts, graphic images, along with interactive components.

The city of Greensburg was awarded just over $150,000 to build Pirate Park Community Green Space and Soccer Facility. The project is expected to serve as home base for local local youth soccer and to provide a space to host regional soccer tournaments, festivals and cultural events. The Greensburg Community School Corporation says it donated the property to the city of Greensburg with the expectation that the land would remain a green space in perpetuity.
