Kokomo man dead after crashing SUV into tree in Tipton County
KEMPTON, Ind. (WISH) — A Kokomo man died Saturday after he crashed his SUV into a tree in Tipton County, according to Indiana State Police.
Police say Harley Mayhew, 40, of Kokomo, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe northbound on County Road 1125 West just before 1 a.m. Saturday when he failed to stop for a stop sign at County Road 50 North in Kempton. That’s about 11 miles west of Tipton.
Mayhew failed to stop and then drove straight into a yard and struck a tree head-on. He was found unresponsive at the scene and pronounced dead.
Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
