The Garage Food Hall will open Tuesday at Bottleworks on Mass Ave

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Plans to bring more business to downtown Indianapolis are moving forward even in the middle of a pandemic. The Bottleworks District is opening The Garage Food Hall Tuesday.

The Garage is phase two of a multi-year project to revamp the Bottleworks district. In December, a remodeled hotel opened, and in just a few days the new food hall will.

About 20 vendors will occupy the space. Representatives said it will be a community-focused marketplace with locally and independently owned businesses. Customers will have access to all kinds of food, a brewery, a coffee shop, a fish market, a bakery and much more.

But this project has been a long time coming. It’s part two of a project that aims to revitalize the Bottleworks District’s 17 buildings.

It may sound as a scary undertaking, considering countless businesses have gone under or suffered major financial loss over the last year. Even with the loss, there’s been a major push to get downtown back in business.

The representatives and business owners are hopeful despite the challenges they could face.

“For right now, you just have to keep your ahead above water, so you’re ready to go and move quick,” said vendor George Munoz.

This is just the second of four more projects on the agenda to be completed over the next few years.
