What reopens Monday?
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Monday begins the second phase of reopening the economy across the state of Indiana.
Non-essential businesses have been closed since the end of March with some saying they’ve dipped into savings just to pay the bills.
Governor Holcomb said he and state officials have been using data to determine when to open the state which focused on four things:
- The number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients statewide has decreased for 14 days.
- The state retains its surge capacity for critical care beds and ventilators.
- The state retains the ability to test all Hoosiers who are COVID-19 symptomatic and all essential workers.
- Health officials have systems in place to contact all individuals who test positive for COVID-19 and complete contact tracing.
Those establishments opening on May 4 include:
- Malls, retail and commercial businesses can open at 50% capacity.
- Restaurants are still open for carryout and delivery, but dining room service can open at 50% capacity beginning one week after start of stage 2.
- Bars, gyms and playgrounds remain closed.
- Personal services are open by appointment only.
This applies to all counties except Cass, Lake and Marion counties. Lake and Marion counties may begin stage 2 on on May 11. Cass County will begin on May 18.
It’s important to note that there are no social or mass gatherings of more than 25 people.
Essential travel restrictions are lifted.
Residents are recommended to wear face masks when in public.
