Mozel Sanders Foundation looking for donations to provide Thanksgiving dinner
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – For the past 40 years, and on every Thanksgiving Day, the Mozel Sanders Foundation has fed thousands of people in need of a meal. Through the years the foundation has raised funds for the meals through generous donations. It is estimated that each meal costs about $4.50, it will take about $37,000 to feed the crowds on Thanksgiving Day.
“I believe the hungry and less fortunate will always be among us, if you are passionate about serving and helping others this is the one you want to donate to,” said Stephen Sanders with the Mozel Sanders Foundation.
In years past, Amos Brown, Bill Mays and Former Indiana State Rep. William Crawford helped the foundation in a variety of ways with fundraising. In the past two years all three men have died. The foundation is now in the process of trying to raise funds for the event. Here are some ways you can help:
This Friday, a radiothon will take place on November 11 and Saturday November 12, at Lafayette Square Mall from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and at Circle Center Mall from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The foundation will accept donations by phone or in person during the radiothon.
Next Wednesday, a dollar from every sausage sandwich purchased at Hardee’s in Indy will go toward the Mozel Sanders Foundation.
The foundation has also created a GoFundMe account. For more information or to donate, click here.
