Indy Irish Fest opens with ‘new location, same shenanigans’
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indy Irish Fest is back after fans missed out in 2020 with a new location and a new date. For the first time, the annual celebration is happening at Garfield Park and on Sept. 24 and 25.
Indy’s long-running party in honor of the Irish culture will hold most of the activities around MacAllister Amphitheater with local vendors and live performances from local dancers, musicians and storytellers.
Returning performers:
- The Fighting Jamesons
- The Drowsy Lads
- Pappy with a Hatchet
New this year:
- Sousa and Agee
- The Ashley Davis Band
- Colin Farrell and Dave Curley
Organizers say after the COVID-19 pandemic heavily impacted travel, they were forced to plan a downsized festival from years past, but they look forward to bringing Indy Irish Fest back safely.
All Indiana’s Randall Newsome was there when the gates opened and the 2021 Indy Irish Fest kicked off.
Festival schedule:
- Friday, Sept. 24, 4:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
- Saturday, Sept. 25, 11:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
