New York woman tackles man she caught burglarizing her home
HUDSON FALLS, N.Y. (NEWS10) – A Hudson Falls woman’s instinct helped her to catch a man burglarizing her home Thursday morning.
The 33-year-old woman, who does not wish to be identified, was coming home Thursday, when she walked into the back door of her home, and found a man standing in her kitchen.
She says she asked the man who he was multiple times.
The man never answered, instead, he ran through her home and out the front door.
The woman chased after and was able to get a hold of the man’s backpack handle.
Three neighbors across the street came over to help. Together they were able to subdue the man, giving the woman a chance to call 911.
“You know you don’t think it’s going to happen to you, and you know it was just kind of a wake-up call,” said woman who was the victim of the burglary. “You know besides speeders on our road, it’s a pretty quiet little neighborhood and you don’t think it’s going to happen, and it did.”
Hudson Falls Police say that the man was 25-year-old Jared Ellis of Lake Luzerne.
Police found that he had stolen jewelry and cash from the woman.
He was charged with 2nd degree burglary and counts of petty larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.
