Plainfield correctional officer arrested for trafficking with inmate

PLAINFIELD, Ind. (WISH) — An officer with the Plainfield Correctional Facility has been arrested for trafficking drugs to an inmate.

Officer Joshua Kirk was arrested Monday evening. He faces preliminary charges of:

  • Trafficking with an offender – level five felony
  • Dealing in synthetic marijuana – level four felony
  • Dealing in methamphetamine – level four felony

A release from the Plainfield Correctional Facility said Kirk was found to be trafficking drugs and tobacco into the facility. He admitted to trafficking with an offender named Charles Collins. Collins is serving a four-year sentence for robbery.

One gram of meth was found on Kirk during a search. In his vehicle, investigators found four baggies of synthetic marijuana and tobacco. A further search of the vehicle found 79 more grams of synthetic marijuana and a pound of loose tobacco.

“I would like to extend my appreciation to our investigative staff for their work surrounding this arrest; their efforts help keep our staff and facility safe. I would also like to emphasize we remain committed to seeking prosecution against anyone who attempts to compromise the safety and security of our facility by any means,” said Plainfield Correctional Facility Superintendent Stanley Knight.
