Police: 8 go to hospital after odor at Muncie Wal-Mart

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) – Police said several people were treated at a hospital after complaining of breathing difficulties at a Muncie Wal-mart store.

Muncie Police Department detective Kyle Monroe says he believes eight people including store employees had been examined at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital following the incident that was reported on Wednesday.

Monroe told The Star Press that all of the patients were released following treatment.

He said they complained of a burning sensation in their throats after an odor was detected, first in the customer service area and then near the checkout lanes.

The source of the odor was not immediately clear.

The store closed for a short time.
