Social media post leads to 2 arrests, drug bust, seizure of guns

BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office arrested two people Friday after one of the suspects posted video of himself committing a crime to social media, according to the sheriff’s office.

On Thursday night, the sheriff’s office says road signs were shot on the west end of the bridge on CR 400 N, east of US 31.

After a tipster sent authorities a video posted on social media, an investigation uncovered that Anthony Sherman, 21, of Columbus, had shot the signs.

“The sheriff’s office would like to thank Mr. Sherman for posting his criminal activity on social media so that we could handle this incident in a timely manner”, said Sheriff Matt Myers.

Authorities went to Sherman’s home. After deputies witnessed several traffic violations, they pulled over a vehicle seen leaving the home.

Deputies found a “significant amount” of marijuana in the vehicle.

Sherman was arrested and faces preliminary charges of possession of marijuana and criminal recklessness with a firearm.

A search warrant was executed on Sherman’s home. Deputies seized several firearms, heroin, marijuana and other drug-related items.

Firearms located at Sherman’s home led deputies to Jeremy Moore, 32, also of Columbus. Moore, who had an outstanding warrant out of Bartholomew County for failure to appear in court, was found at Days Inn.

Heroin and syringes were found in the motel room that police believe Moore had been staying in.
