Tippecanoe County will not extend voting hours following poll issues

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) — The Tippecanoe County Election Board met Tuesday morning and decided they will not extend hours on Election Day after issues at the polls.

Tippecanoe County Clerk Christa Coffey said five polling locations were having some problems with electronic poll books on election morning. That’s the tool used to process voter check-in and check-out.

According to Coffey, it is not an issue with the polling machines.

It did cause some back up at certain voting locations Tuesday morning. The five locations impacted included The Outpost, Federated Church, Fire Station #5, Evangelical Covenant and the Morton Center.

WLFI in West Lafayette received dozens of tips about slow lines and machines not working within minutes of the polls opening.

Coffey said she has been traveling to polling locations to fix the problem and polls should be running smoothly as of 7:30 a.m.
