10 most common snakes you may encounter in Indiana

Gray Ratsnake: One of the largest snakes you will come across in the state of Indiana. Their thick bodies can grow between 42-72 inches in length. The ratsnake prefers woodlands, prairies, streams or hills. They are often found in abandoned buildings, older foundations or climbing trees. If you see a ratsnake, remember they're just out there helping control the pest population by eating rodents from fields, barns and gardens.
