Suspect in Crawfordsville stabbing caught in Wisconsin

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. (WISH) – Police say less than 17 hours after a woman was stabbed in Crawfordsville, officers apprehended the suspect in the case in Wisconsin.

Officials say Ruben Loyo is in custody in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. He’s accused of stabbing his wife, Kristina Loyo, as she exited a friend’s car after work early Monday morning.

Police say they tracked Loyo down by reaching out to the public and following up on leads. He was taken into custody Monday evening, though it’s unclear why he was in the Sheboygan area.

Loyo has been preliminarily charged with aggravated battery, battery with a deadly weapon and battery causing serious bodily injury.

The Crawfordsville Police Department is now working to extradite Loyo back to Crawfordsville. Until then, he’ll remain in Sheboygan.
