Singers brave rain for American Idol auditions
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – People huddled under umbrellas along Georgia Street in Indianapolis Thursday morning waiting for their chance to audition for American Idol.
The show is approaching its 15th and last season, and the singers are hoping they make it on the singing competition show.
The first person in line on Georgia Street said he arrived at 10 p.m. Wednesday for the chance to appear on the program.
An Indianapolis mother who joined the line at 2 a.m. said inspiring her children drove her to audition.
“I’ve been dreaming about singing since I was about five years old. [My children] motivate me to do my dream. As long as I keep pushing, my kids will know that as long as they follow their dreams they can do it too,” she said.
A spokeswoman for American Idol said the show expects to capitalize on Indiana’s central location.
Emma Harvey said she had more media outlets express interest in covering the auditions than at any other chosen city of the bus schedule.
American Idol’s audition bus will be at 100 W. Georgia St. from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday. Anyone interested in auditioning needs to bring two forms of identification, and one of those must include a photo.
