IMPD officer accused of shooting live-in girlfriend takes plea deal
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – An Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Officer charged with the attempted murder of his girlfriend accepted a plea deal on Thursday in court.
Justin Beaton was charged with attempted murder, domestic battery, pointing a firearm and obstruction of justice. Now, because of a plea deal he will only face criminal recklessness charges.
In August 2014 Beaton was accused of shooting his live-in girlfriend through a glass door with what she thought were blank rounds.
Beaton was a 10 year veteran with IMPD.
A sentencing hearing is scheduled for Oct. 7 at 3 p.m.
