Catching Fever: Team preps for upcoming season

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — After 14 years in the WNBA, a league title and countless awards and accolades, Tamika Catchings will play her last season of basketball this summer. But her impact will be felt by teammates and coaches for years to come.

“You look at the core values of our franchise and they are Tamika Catchings,” teammate Stephanie White said.

“I don’t think people realize how great of a person she is. I think they know she’s an awesome player, but she’s an awesome teammate, and she’s just an all-around great woman,” teammate Shenise Johnson said.

“She leads by example every day in the way that she plays, and the way that she trains, and the way that she eats, and the way that she serves this community,” White added.

Catchings returns with a team who fell just short in Game 5 of last year’s finals, an outcome that they plan on using as motivation this season.

“This year, you know, I feel like we have the pieces, we have a great team, and now we have the experience. And a few new pieces that I feel have elevated our game,” Catchings said.
