IMPD officer hurt by heroin needle while patting down suspect
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indianapolis police say an officer was stuck by a heroin needle Monday evening.
It happened while the officer was patting down a suspect.
IMPD says Nathan Sharp led police on a brief chase near 28th Street and Sherman Drive.
Sharp is now behind bars for auto theft, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license and resisting law enforcement.
The officer went to the hospital for an initial evaluation Monday. IMPD says he’ll have follow up appointments with a doctor to ensure there are no infections.
