Bus involved in fender-bender, student hurt
MIAMI COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — One student was injured Tuesday when the bus he was on was rear-ended by a truck.
Forty students were aboard the Maconaquah district bus, which was preparing to stop to pick up more students on the 3000 block of South State Road 19 around 8 a.m.
According to Indiana State Police, the driver of the truck, 25-year-old Todd McFarland, was following too closely and failed to stop in time. He was taken to Dukes Hospital with a chin cut.
The student who was injured, Tyler Parades, 18, was also taken to the hospital for a chin cut, as well as a shoulder injury.
Police said alcohol and drugs are not believed to have been factors, and the crash is still under investigation.
