Terre Haute spring breaker dies from fall in Florida

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (AP/WISH) – Authorities say a spring breaker from Indiana was drinking heavily before he fell from a parking garage and died.

Panama City Beach police said Tyler Douglas Gilmore, 20, of Terre Haute, Indiana, was found by a passerby after midnight Sunday at a parking garage. Police said it’s unclear how high Gilmore was when he fell.

Witnesses said he was last seen approximately two hours earlier. The News Herald reports Gilmore and his friends had been drinking heavily and that he was drunk the last time they saw him.

His death is under investigation but authorities don’t suspect foul play.

Gilmore was a student at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College until December, according to 24-Hour News 8 sister station WTHI.

He was a wrestler and 2014 graduate of Terre Haute North High School, WTHI reports.
