Car goes into White River near downtown; no driver found
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Crews with the Indianapolis Fire Department and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department are at the scene of a reported car into the White River.
Police around 5:20 p.m. Sunday received a report of a vehicle going into the water near Oliver Avenue and South White River Parkway West Drive.
Firefighters say the car left the road, traveled down the embankment, went through barriers and into the water. They also say a man was seen walking from the area of the water, but IFD is unsure if he was the driver.
Crews could not remove the car from the water and say they will try again Monday.
Police told News 8 they have the license plate number of the car and are working to see who it belongs to.
