Behind the Bricks: Indy 500 pre-race production

The pre-race festivities for the Indianapolis 500 are almost as legendary as the race itself, and it takes a lot of people — and a lot of planning — to pull off a perfect show.

Some of the responsibility falls on the “handlers” — staff members at Indianapolis Motor Speedway who work with VIP guests to keep them on schedule and get them where they need to be — while other members of the IMS team are stationed on the roof of the Pagoda to help coordinate the flyover.

On this continued episode of “Behind the Bricks,” IMS President Doug Boles shares a behind-the-scenes look at the people, places, and preparation needed to bring everything together on race day.
