‘Gr8 Comeback’: Family-owned Harsi’s Subs N Pizza reopens after being closed for a year

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Harsi’s Subs N Pizza has made its return to the city’s west side, but its closing came long before the COVID-19 pandemic.

The shop shut down after a driver in a high-speed chase crashed into the building on Sept. 3, 2019. After nearly a year of being closed, the family-owned restaurant is back and the community welcomed them back with a packed house.

“The emotions are so high,” owner Harsi Bosamia said. “It’s really good to be back to normal.”

“Oh my God, I’m overwhelmed with all the response,” Harsi’s wife and co-owner, Parul Bosamia, said. “[I] did not expect this much, but I think our loyal customers in Speedway, in Eagledale were the reason for us to open the doors, for Harsi and rebuild the way as it was.”

After 25 years in business, the restaurant’s faithful customers, some who have been eating there for more than two decades, kept the family busy as it reopened, especially during the lunch hours.

“We appreciate everybody’s support and coming in and marketing the product by word and mouth,” Harsi said. While they are opening back up in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, they are ready for to serve customers safely.

“All we expect is for everybody to take care of themselves and not spread the germs.”

“Spread the news, not the germs,” Parul added.

The couple didn’t want to let the moment pass without thanking their kids, Ronak Bosamia and Darshi Bosamia and their staff member Jai Sanghani for helping them put together a successful grand reopening.

“Thank you so much,” Parul said.
