20-foot Great White Shark Deep Blue may be largest ever filmed

(WQRF) — Shark experts off the coast of Mexico’s Guadalupe Island filmed some incredible video of a massive great white shark named Deep Blue.

The average great white is between 11 and 15 feet long, but Deep Blue is estimated to be 20 feet long and is being considered one of the largest great white sharks ever caught on camera.

The jaw-dropping footage was captured by Mauricio Hoyos Padilla, a shark expert working for Discovery Channel’s “Shark Week”, in 2013.

Deep Blue is estimated to be 50 years old. Great white sharks are thought to live 70 years. Researchers were able to tag Deep Blue, which allows them to gather data on the shark’s depth and location to better understand the big fish’s behavior.
