Arrest made in recent east side homicide

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department has made an arrest in an east side homicide.

According to the department, 27-year-old Sammy Tinnin has been arrested for his connection an Aug. 12 homicide.

Just before 9 a.m on Aug. 12 officers responded to the 2500 block of North Emerson Avenue for a report of a person down in that area. Once on the scene, officers found an adult male dead who appeared to have been shot.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office has identified that victim as 24-year-old John Shockley.

Following the department’s investigation, Tinnin was taken into custody on Aug. 15.

He faces a preliminary charge of murder.
