Indianapolis woman arrested for October robbery, assaulting employee at party store

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An Indianapolis woman on Wednesday was arrested for her role in a robbery and beating of an employee at a party store on the south side in October.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said in a Facebook post the robbery happened on Oct. 10 at the Party City store located at 8703 Hardegan Street. That is near the intersection of County Line Road and North Madison Avenue.

According to police, 47-year-old Tawanda Brown and another woman were seen concealing merchandise in the store. When an employee confronted them, they shoved her to the ground, punched her and stomped on her face.

The employee suffered a fractured nose among other injuries.

Brown is charged with robbery and battery resulting in serious bodily injury. IMPD says she was also arrested in 2018 for stabbing a juvenile at a JCPenny after the juvenile reported Brown was removing security tags in the store.
