MARION, Ind. (WISH) — A high school counselor has been arrested after being accused of a “inappropriate” online relationship.

46-year-old Ryan Vermilion has been arrested by the Wells County Sheriff’s Office.

Vermilion, a counselor with Marion High School, was arrested on 12 counts of vicarious sexual gratification and 12 counts of child exploitation.

Investigators say they discovered the relationship with the minor following an investigation that began last week.

The sheriff’s office described it as an “isolated” incident and said no other minors appear to be involved.

Marion Community Schools says Vermilion has been suspended and termination is pending.
