Frozen spinach sold at Target recalled

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A brand of frozen spinach that is sold exclusively at Target stores around the country is being recalled over contamination concerns.

Superior Foods, Inc. is recalling 8,475 cases of Simply Balanced 10-oz frozen organic chopped spinach because there may be Listeria monocytogenes present.

The organism can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems.

No illnesses have been reported. Anyone who bought the product is encouraged to throw it away or return it to the store where it was purchased for an exchange or full refund.
