Homicide investigation underway after husband, wife found dead at southern Indiana home

MT. VERNON, Ind. (WISH) — A homicide investigation is underway in Posey County after a husband and wife were found dead inside their home on Saturday, police said.

Indiana State Police and the Mt. Vernon Police Department are investigating the two deaths that happened in the 700 block of Mulberry Street in Mt. Vernon.

According to ISP, a family member went to check on the couple’s welfare just after 8 a.m. The relative found the man and woman deceased.

On Sunday, Posey County Coroner Bill Denning identified the couple as John Hall, 74, and Elizabeth Hall, 74. Denning officially ruled the manner of death for both victims as homicide.

ISP said that the cause of death will not be released while the investigation remains ongoing.
