Zionsville Middle School student honored for nonprofit organization

Eighth-grader in Zionsville receives award for music fundraiser

ZIONSVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — An eighth-grader at Zionsville Middle School is using her interest in music to help other students.

Margaret Dimmett received the Prudential Spirit of Community award for her nonprofit called Notable Measures.

Dimmett and her sister have raised more than $13,000 to buy instruments, sheet music and other music equipment for schools across Indiana.

“We are doing this because we think music education is very important. We have seen the research that supports that it is so good for brain development and kids especially, and we are doing it because we want everyone to have access to this,” Dimmett said.

Dimmett said she got the idea three years ago when she wanted to buy a violin, but not at an expensive cost.
