Man arrested after chase through Boone, Marion counties

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Police arrested a man Monday night after a chase from Boone County to downtown Indianapolis.

According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, it started around 8 p.m. when police received a 911 call about a road rage incident where a man in a black car pointed a gun at the victim. Officials say the vehicles were heading southbound on Interstate 65 in northern Boone County.

Police met up with the suspect vehicle near Lebanon and tried to pull it over near the Whitestown exit. Officials say the vehicle started to pull over onto the shoulder, but then sped up and tried to evade police.

The driver, who police later identified as 23-year-old Andrew Titus, from Gary, continued southbound on I-65. Police say he hit stop sticks near the Zionsville exit, lost a tire, and continued driving on the rim.

He got off on 38th Street and the chase went into downtown Indianapolis where it ended at Meridian and Michigan streets. Titus was taken into custody and no one was hurt.

Police say Titus had three outstanding warrants, including charges of strangulation and assault on a police officer. He was also traveling in a stolen car out of Arizona, according to authorities.

He was jailed in Boone County and preliminarily charged with resisting law enforcement, possession of stolen property, reckless driving and driving with a suspended license.
