Much of central Indiana sees 1st snowfall of 2016
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The first accumulation snow of 2016 has moved out, leaving anywhere between one to four inches of snow across a good portion of central Indiana.
Officially, Indianapolis received 1.5 inches of snow Sunday morning.

Police in central Indiana counties reported a number of slide-offs Sunday morning. Most crashes were only minor, officials said, and were likely the result of people driving too fast.
As of 2 p.m., Indiana State Police in the Indianapolis area said they worked more than 140 calls for crashes, slide offs or disabled vehicles. No one was seriously injured in any of the incidents.
ISP says two of its vehicles were hit while responding to calls. No one was injured in either crash.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office reported eight slide-offs in the morning hours and the report of a pole and wires down as well.
A few central Indiana counties issued travel advisories because of the snow, including Madison County and Wayne County. That means routine travel or activities may be restricted and people should use caution or avoid those areas.

Temperatures and wind will be the focus for the second half of the day. Frigid air will move into the state, sending temperatures into the teens Sunday afternoon. Strong winds out of the northwest, with gusts up to 40 mph at times will send wind chills into the single digits for most of the day.
Cold temperatures look to stick around for much of this week. The next snow chance moves in Tuesday morning, with light accumulations possible.
