Neighborhood connections created at ‘Coffee with a Cop’

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – People had the chance to chat with Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officers over coffee at McDonald’s on Tuesday.

It was part of IMPD’s “Coffee with a Cop” program.

“McDonald’s has a strong commitment to enhancing the communities it serves,” said Randy Shields, McDonald’s Owner and Operator. “‘Coffee with a Cop’ is a program that not only serves our community, it will bring our neighbors closer together. As a McDonald’s Owner and Operator, I am proud to be a part of the program.”

Customers were invited to join in the conversation and were given a free small coffee at the southeast side location.

Officers say having the program at a neutral location helps develop a great relationship with the community.

More conversations are planned throughout the rest of the year in different areas of town.
