Possible tornado in Rush County damages a dozen homes
RUSHVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — Rush County crews are continuing to clean up debris after a possible tornado in Rushville.
Emergency officials say the storm came through around 8:45 Saturday night.
There were no reports of injuries, but officials say 12 homes were damaged.
News 8 talked to one farmer in Rushville whose family farm has stood since the 1800s.
“When they came up here they saw, you could not see the westside of the house. Because of the trees uh, once they got the trees off of it, there was some damage from trees limbs through the roof, broken rafters tree limb through one of the windows and one of the side walls, except for that the house is still intact,” said farmer and homeowner Jeff McGee.
The National Weather Service on Sunday said it had not been able to survey the damage yet to confirm a tornado but planned to do so.
Officials want to remind people to not drive through flooded areas.
