Shelbyville police say school is safe after middle school student threatened

SHELBYVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — Additional officers were provided to Shelbyville Middle School Friday after a threat was made to a student Thursday night, the Shelbyville Police Department said.

Police investigated the threat after it was reported by a parent Thursday night.

“The parent reported that her son, who is a middle school student, had communications with a female who said she was from Canada. This communication led to a phone call last night where the female advised the student that she was going to be at the middle school today during his 6th period and ‘kill him,’” said the Shelbyville Police Department in a statement. “The student did not know this person. The student was able to see the female during a short FaceTime call that was made to him. The student advised he did not know her and described her as having red hair.”

Police determined the threat to be non-credible, saying “we feel the students are safe at the school.”

If anyone has information on who the female could be, you are asked to contact the Shelbyville Police Department.
