UIndy relishes national championship win
INDIANAPOLIS – (WISH) The win came 13 days again, but the University of Indianapolis women’s golf team is still celebrating.
“Everybody keeps asking me if it’s worn off, and it hasn’t worn off at all,” said UIndy women’s golf coach Brent Nicoson.
His team brought home the school’s first national championship in any NCAA team sport.
“It’s just indescribable,” said UIndy freshman golfer Paxton DeHaven. “Just great feeling, great moment, and it was just awesome.”
“When all your hard work and your dream finally comes true, it’s hard to describe,” said UIndy junior golfer Brooke Beegle. “We were just so excited and so happy that our biggest goal ever just came true.”
The Greyhounds held the lead through all four rounds and had an 11 shot lead heading into the final day. Rollins College of Florida made a hard charge on the last day, but UIndy held them off to win by five strokes.
