VERSAILLES, Ind. (WISH) – One man has died following a two-vehicle Friday evening crash near Versailles.

According to the Indiana State Police, officers responded to the crash on US 50 near US 421 just west of Versailles a little before 6 p.m Friday.

Police said a motorcycle headed eastbound on US 50 being driven by 44-year-old Daniel Griest crossed the center line.  It was at that time the motorcycle hit a 2016 Chevrolet Traverse nearly head on.

Upon impact Griest was thrown from his motorcycle.  Griest incurred massive injuries as a result of the collision and was then flown by helicopter to a Cincinnati hospital.

However, Griest did later die due to his injuries.

Police said Griest was not wearing a helmet at the time of accident and that the speed of the motorcycle could have played a factor in the deadly crash.
