No charges to be filed against city-county councilor
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – No charges will be filed against City-County Councilor Zach Adamson.
A report alleging rape was filed against Adamson in June of this year.
The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office assigned a special prosecutor to review the case.
After reviewing the police investigation, the special prosecutor determined that charges were not warranted.
Adamson, who maintained his innocence from the beginning, released the following statement after the move was announced:
From the beginning, we have maintained that the accusations against me were false. We are pleased that after 7 weeks of extensive investigations by the police, that have come to the same conclusion. We’re grateful to the IMPD detectives working on this matter and thank them for their thorough investigation.
I wish to thank the many people here in Indianapolis and around Indiana who’ve reached out to express their unequivocal support for me and my family during this time.
We look forward to putting this behind us so we can get back to the important work of improving the quality of life for the people of the 17th District and across Indianapolis. I refer any questions to my lawyer, Kathleen Sweeney.
