Body found in creek on northeast side
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A body was found Tuesday afternoon in Fall Creek on the city’s northeast side.
IMPD officers and crews from the Indianapolis Fire Department responded near the bank of Fall Creek, near the 4100 block of East Fall Creek Parkway North Drive, around 4 p.m. Tuesday.
Someone walking on the Fall Creek trail saw a body floating in the water and called police.
Emergency responders found a body facedown in the water.
The victim appears to be male and not a child, according to Maj. Harold Turner. Debris around the body needs to be removed before investigators can determine more about how the person died and how long the body had been in the water, Turner said.
It’s also not clear if the body entered the water at this location or if it floated down Fall Creek from another spot.
Tegan Tinsley lives in an apartment across the street and loves to fish in Fall Creek.
“I feel safe most of the time, but it’s still scary,” Tinsley said.
No information about the circumstances of the person’s death were immediately known.
