SALEM, Ind. (WISH) — The body of a man missing out of Salem was discovered Tuesday evening, Indiana State Police said Wednesday.

Dillon Burgan, 29, was reported missing Thursday after disappearing behind an acquaintance’s house located on State Road 135.

On Tuesday, a local farmer contacted Washington County law enforcement after finding an article of clothing in one of his fields located off State Road 135, just east of where Burgan was last seen.

Authorities searched the area on foot and located a body in a heavily wooded area a few yards away from the highway. The body was identified as Burgan by the Washington County Coroner.

No signs of trauma were immediately reported. An official autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday, police say.

The incident remains under investigation.
