Marianne Tobias Music Program at Eskenazi Health celebrates Black Music Month

PAID ASAP

The Marianne Tobias Music Program at Eskenazi Health started in 2013, thanks to a grand piano donation and endowment from the late philanthropist and pianist, Marianne Tobias. This program brings live music to patients, staff, and visitors every week.

Local artists perform in the Eli Lilly and Company Foundation Concourse at the Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital. These free performances highlight the diverse culture and arts of Indianapolis and are also live-streamed to TVs throughout the hospital.

Celebrating Black Music Month

In June, the Marianne Tobias Music Program celebrates Black Music Month. The month honors the history and impact of African American music, including jazz, rap, hip-hop, R&B, and rock and roll.

The celebration will end with a special event on Wednesday, June 26, at noon Author Aleta Hodge will discuss her book, “Indiana Avenue: Life and Musical Journey from 1915-2015,” with live music from Clifford Ratliff on trumpet and Frank Smith on bass. This free event is open to everyone and will be held in the Eli Lilly and Company Foundation Concourse at the Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital.
