Carmel Clay Schools adding metal detectors for school board meetings

CARMEL, Ind. (WISH) — Carmel Clay Schools is adding wand metal detectors for this week’s school board meeting.

The announcement comes after a man was arrested during a July meeting when a handgun fell from his pocket.

Indiana law makes it a felony to have a gun on school property.

According to a notice for Wednesday’s meeting, all participants are subject to metal detection and may be patted down.

The district says people wanting to attend board meetings should expect metal detectors from now on.
