Local performances, programs, classes you can experience online

Though all performing arts events have either been postponed or canceled due to the pandemic there are still a host of performances, classes and programs you can advantage of online.

Today, Tom Alvarez, Performing Arts Critic told us about a few of them. This includes. Laff Streams, presented by IndyFringe On April 18. It is an hour-long series of 12 comedy sketches including a mockumentary about jobs that are hard to do from home, a look at how the crisis is affecting the North Pole, an interview with a quarantined vampire, satirical public service announcements and 3 music videos with original songs, all hosted by Indy’s Golden Girls: The Lost Episodes. Go to IndyFringe.org for more information about how to stream the show.

Next check out Actors’ Theatre of Indiana’s Live. ATI co-founder Don Farrell,  Judy Fitzgerald, Cynthia Collins and Executive Director Jim Reilly bring you music and comedy with special guests every Friday night at 7:30 p.m., live on Facebook.

Finally, join Booth Tarkington Civic Theatre’s Brent Marty and Holly Suits in their Facebook offering Brent & Holly LIVE every Friday with celebrity guest readers, a Q & A, a performance or two and info about what’s going on with Civic Education programs. The show is on each Friday at 3 p.m.on Civic’s Theatre Facebook page.

Besides these online attractions, be aware that there continue to be countless numbers of online performances including one from the Musicians of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, the first in a series of what they are calling “Presenting Music in a Time of Distance.”

Although Tom isn’t writing any reviews, I am writing stories about performing artists and organizations and how they’re coping with the pandemic on his blog.
