Patty’s Picks: A deep dive into ‘It Ends With Us’
Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming movie critic Patty Spitler to the studio, where she shared her thoughts on the highly anticipated film “It Ends With Us,” which just hit theaters.
The movie, based on Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel, takes viewers on an emotional rollercoaster through the highs and lows of a romance gone awry.
Patty explained that the book, published in 2016, is one of Hoover’s most challenging works.
The story follows Lily, a young woman who relocates to Boston to start anew after the passing of her abusive father.
As Lily navigates her fresh start, she opens a florist shop, but soon enough, her past begins to catch up with her.
Things take a dramatic turn when Lily’s former boyfriend returns, only to find her entangled with a new love interest—a dashing neurosurgeon.
This isn’t your typical love story. As Patty detailed, the plot thickens when the new boyfriend’s darker side surfaces, leading to moments that are as shocking as they are heartbreaking.
Patty shared clips from the movie that highlighted the intensity of the story. She pointed out the powerful performances, especially by Blake Lively, who portrays Lily.
The tension builds as Lily finds herself in a dangerous cycle of abuse, desperately trying to break free.
Patty noted the film’s emotional weight and its PG-13 rating for some violence and sexual content. She gave the movie a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars.
