Kid-approved recipes young cooks can make themselves

With kids home for summer, now is the time to get a few recipes for family-friendly snacks and meals under your belt. All that playing in the sun, day-camping and having fun not only changes their schedule for eating- but creates a big appetite!

Foodie in training Jacob Tallman, son of food writer Heather Tallman, has a few of his favorite recipes to share that are not only quick and easy, but older kids can make themselves!

Peanut Butter, Banana and Granola Wraps

1 C peanut butter (or other nut butter)

1 C vanilla yogurt

honey

2 C granola of your choice

1 C fruit OR 1 large banana-sliced

4 large tortillas ( I used Toufayan Bakeries original gluten-free)

Divide ingredients evenly on each tortilla.

Wrap tightly and slice in half.

Strawberry Oats Smoothie

1 C sliced strawberries (fresh or frozen)

1 banana, sliced

1/2 C old-fashioned oats

1 4oz container of vanilla Greek yogurt

1/2 C milk

Combine all in a blender.
